How to Find Materials for Making Natural Holiday Planters
Look around your property and along the street. Observe all the different kinds of greenery. Are there pinecones, holly, juniper or nandina berries? Get some clippers and a bucket then start to walk around taking cuttings of the different plants that catch your eye. Try to vary the different types of greenery. Ivy, Virginia Creeper, or any other vine will add a nice touch also. Dried flower heads from your garden or in nature would also be beautiful.
Decorating the Planters
If the soil in your pots is frozen, put them in the garage to thaw for a bit. This will make it easier to use the soil to hold the greenery in place. Think of your pots as a vase, if that makes it easier to figure out how to arrange them. Placing a bow on the arrangement will add a pop of color if you feel it needs a little something extra. Play around with it until you are happy with your creation.
The plants should last all season. You can easily replace any greenery if it isn’t holding up as well as the rest. Once the planters are done, they are maintenance free.
